I’m not sure when it started. Maybe it was after the rainy walks. Maybe it was after I ran inside one too many times without drying off properly. All I know is that my favorite spot on the carpet didn’t smell like it used to.
My humans vacuum a lot. I see it. I hear it. I even bark at it. But vacuuming doesn’t fix everything. Sometimes the carpet still holds onto things I can smell but they can’t.
I spend a lot of time down here. Naps. Toys. Treat crumbs. That one accident I’d rather not talk about. The carpet is basically my world.
Then one day, something changed.
The house didn’t smell like perfume. It didn’t smell wet. It just smelled… neutral. Clean. Like fresh air after a window’s been open all morning. My favorite spot felt softer too. Lighter. Not heavy like before.
My humans told each other they had scheduled with Chem-Dry of Tampa. I don’t know what that means exactly, but I know this:
I was back to rolling around without sneezing.
My humans stopped talking about “traffic lanes.”
And I could stretch out on the carpet without them saying, “get off that, it’s still damp.”
Whatever they did, it dried fast. I didn’t have to wait all day to reclaim my territory.
